Wildlife Parks are popular tourist destinations, but we are committed to other duties as well: we care for endangered animal species, we inform people how they can be part of protection programs and we nurse and care for injured animals in the nature. The Ranua Wildlife Park team is specialised in northern and arctic animal species, which are also the main target in our protection work.

There are several endangered arctic and northern animal species. Climate change affects strongly their habitat, making it more difficult for them to reproduce and find food. At the Ranua Wildlife Park you meet the endangered arctic species like the polar bear, the arctic fox, the snowy owl and the musk ox, greatly threatened by climate change. Global warming affects other northern species as well. In addition to the species in the arctic regions, the species in the mountainous ice sheet areas are threatened by global warming.
